On Sunday, a rocket attack by Hezbollah resulted in the death of at least one individual in northern Israel. This marks the first fatality in Israel linked to fire originating from Lebanon since the onset of the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran earlier this month.
Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the attack, stating it targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers in the northern community of Misgav Am. Israel’s ZAKA 360 emergency response unit confirmed a death following a rocket strike on a vehicle. Local firefighters reported that two vehicles were engulfed in flames due to the attack.
The identity of the deceased individual has not been disclosed.
In response, Israel has increased its military operations in southern Lebanon. The conflict has resulted in significant casualties and displacements. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced instructions to expedite the demolition of structures in southern Lebanon to mitigate perceived threats. Additionally, the Israeli military has been ordered to demolish bridges over the Litani River used by Hezbollah.
