The Israeli military has initiated ground operations in southern Lebanon as hostilities with Hezbollah intensify in the region surrounding the strategic town of Khiam.
Three air strikes targeted the city of Khiam. Two Israeli air raids were reported in the town of Yater. Additional raids occurred in Burj Qalawiya, Sultaniya, Chaqra, Qantara, and as-Sawana.
The Israeli army stated that current operations focus on key targets in southern Lebanon to expand their forward defense area, aiming to eliminate terrorist infrastructure and personnel.
Khiam is strategically located, providing a vantage point over northern Israel and nearby Lebanese plains. Its position near the border and the Litani River makes it a critical location for military control.
