The ruling responds to a petition filed by 17 aid agencies contesting the government's ban. The initial directive from Israeli authorities had set a deadline for 37 aid organizations to renew their work registrations and submit personal details of their Palestinian staff.
Several aid organizations, including Doctors Without Borders (MSF), Oxfam, the Norwegian Refugee Council, and CARE, have expressed concerns that compliance with these orders could jeopardize their staff's safety and contravene humanitarian neutrality principles and European data protection laws.
Despite the court's decision, aid agencies continue to face operational difficulties. Shaina Low, communication adviser for the Norwegian Refugee Council, noted that while the injunction prevents immediate closure, it does not address visa issues, access restrictions, or broader impediments to aid delivery.
