The Hamas organization has dismissed demands made by an Israeli government official for the group to disarm within 60 days. The official indicated potential military actions if compliance is not met. Mahmoud Mardawi, a senior Hamas representative, stated there is no acknowledgment of such requirements in ongoing discussions.
According to reports, Israeli Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs, during a conference in Jerusalem, mentioned that the ultimatum was suggested by the United States administration, with the intention to respect this timeframe. However, Fuchs did not specify when this period would commence.
Fuchs noted that the ultimatum might align with the February 19 meeting of the US President's Board of Peace, a plan supported by Washington aimed at Gaza's reconstruction. The evaluation of this plan will determine future actions. If ineffective, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) may be tasked with further operations.
In response, Mardawi warned of significant regional consequences if threats to resume conflict are pursued, highlighting the resilience of the Palestinian population. He reiterated that Hamas will not disarm while Israeli occupation persists in Gaza.

Despite a US-mediated ceasefire effective from October, hostilities have persisted, leading to over 600 Palestinian deaths. According to Gaza authorities, Israel has breached the ceasefire over 1,500 times.
Additionally, severe restrictions on essential supplies such as food, medicine, and shelter materials continue to impact the approximately two million Palestinians residing in Gaza, contributing to severe humanitarian conditions.
