On Mon, Nov 7, 2026, Israeli forces conducted an airstrike on a vehicle near Lebanon's border with Syria, resulting in the deaths of at least four individuals, as reported by the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.
The Lebanese National News Agency identified one of the deceased as Khaled Mohammad al-Ahmad, a Syrian national. The Israeli military acknowledged the airstrike, stating that it targeted members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in Lebanon. However, no evidence was provided to support this claim, and there has been no response from the PIJ.
The operation took place in the Majdal Anjar area in Lebanon. The PIJ is recognized as an armed group operating in the occupied Palestinian territory, allied with Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and associated with the Lebanese group Hezbollah.

The airstrike is part of ongoing tensions despite a ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hezbollah in November 2024. According to the United Nations, Israel has conducted over 10,000 air and ground assaults in the year following the ceasefire, resulting in verified civilian casualties, including women and children.
Lebanese authorities reported that at least 11 Lebanese civilians have been abducted by Israeli forces during this period. Furthermore, Lebanon has formally lodged a complaint with the United Nations regarding these incidents, citing over 2,036 violations of its sovereignty by Israel in the last quarter of 2025. The complaint calls for the UN Security Council to demand an end to Israel's military actions and complete withdrawal from Lebanese territory.
Israel's continued occupation of five areas in Lebanon impedes reconstruction efforts and prevents displaced residents from returning to their homes.
