Recent military actions across Gaza have resulted in significant casualties, marking one of the deadliest days since the ceasefire agreement that commenced in October 2023. The evacuation of Palestinian patients via the Rafah crossing was suspended on Wednesday.

Since the beginning of the conflict on October 7, 2023, Israeli military operations have resulted in the deaths of over 71,803 Palestinians. The International Court of Justice is currently examining allegations of genocide against Israel.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that Israel canceled the coordination for the evacuation of a third group of patients from Gaza through the Rafah crossing. This process was supposed to facilitate the transfer of patients requiring medical attention to Egyptian hospitals.

On Monday and Tuesday, limited numbers of Palestinians were permitted to cross into Egypt, well below the daily allowance initially stated by Israeli officials. The World Health Organization (WHO) has been cited as not providing the necessary coordination details required for the process, according to COGAT, the Israeli defense ministry body responsible for civil affairs in the Palestinian territories.

Currently, more than 18,000 Palestinian patients, including approximately 440 critical cases, are awaiting medical evacuation through the Rafah crossing.

Palestinian Casualties in Jericho Raid

In addition to the events in Gaza, Israeli forces conducted operations in the occupied West Bank. During a raid in Jericho, Saeed Na’el al-Sheikh, a 24-year-old Palestinian, was fatally shot. The Health Ministry reported additional injuries to Palestinians during these operations, including gunshot wounds and other forms of physical harm.
