Authorities in Syria have implemented a curfew in several neighborhoods of Aleppo city due to intensified clashes between the Syrian military and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The Aleppo Internal Security Command announced on Thursday that a curfew is in effect "until further notice" in the neighborhoods of Ashrafieh, Sheikh Maqsoud, Bani Zeid, al-Siryan, al-Hullok, and al-Midan. This measure aims to ensure the safety of residents and is part of ongoing security procedures to maintain order and prevent violations that could endanger lives and property. All movement is strictly prohibited within the designated areas during the curfew period, with no exceptions.
Over 100,000 civilians have fled their homes in Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud since the onset of fighting between the Syrian military and the SDF. The clashes coincide with stalled negotiations on a March 2025 agreement to integrate the SDF into Syrian state institutions. At least 22 people have been killed, and 173 others wounded in Aleppo this week. The Syrian military accuses the SDF of targeting civilian areas, while the SDF denies these allegations, attributing casualties to indiscriminate shelling by government-aligned factions.
