Residents of Gaza, such as Shaima Wadi, have expressed concerns over the living conditions. Wadi, displaced from Jabaliya, highlighted the financial difficulties in acquiring basic necessities like clothing and mattresses.
Siraj Ahmad, another displaced individual, described the inadequate protection from the elements, with water seeping into their shelters and insufficient covers to keep warm. Ahmad Wadi, another resident, resorts to burning collected materials to provide warmth.
However, adverse weather conditions, including storms and floods, are impacting the population living in temporary shelters across the region.
The Gaza Health Ministry, under the Hamas administration, reported casualties due to hypothermia and structural collapses of damaged buildings. Emergency workers have advised against occupying these structures due to potential collapse risks.
As of recent reports, 29 bodies have been recovered from the rubble within 48 hours, with additional injuries reported. The United Nations Satellite Center previously estimated that nearly 80% of Gaza's infrastructure has sustained damage.
Since the ceasefire on October 11, 414 individuals have been reported killed and 1,142 injured. The total Palestinian death toll from the conflict has reached at least 71,266, with 171,219 injuries. These figures, provided by the Hamas-run health ministry, are considered reliable by international entities, although disputed by Israeli authorities.
