Initially, Lebanese authorities reported two casualties from Israeli strikes on Sunday. However, the death toll was later revised following additional military action.
The victims included two individuals in the eastern Baalbek region and a third person in Naqoura, located in the southern province of Tyre. Among the deceased was a Syrian national, who was struck in the town of al-Hafir in Baalbek.
The Israeli military has stated that its operations targeted members of Hezbollah. According to their statement, Ali Hussein al-Mousawi was killed in eastern Lebanon. The military claims al-Mousawi was involved in procuring and transporting weapons from Syria to Lebanon and played a significant role in enhancing Hezbollah's capabilities.

The recent fatalities occur 11 months after a ceasefire was established to halt hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. Despite the ceasefire agreements in both Lebanon and Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized Israel's autonomy in security matters, stating, "Israel is an independent state. We will defend ourselves by our own means and we will continue to determine our fate."
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported that an Israeli drone dropped a grenade near its patrol in Kfar Kila, followed by a tank shot. UNIFIL noted no injuries or damage but stated that these actions violated UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and compromised the safety of peacekeeping personnel.
UN experts have expressed concern over the ongoing Israeli strikes, citing civilian casualties and destruction of infrastructure, which impact local livelihoods. Under the terms of the November 2024 ceasefire, Israel was to withdraw forces from southern Lebanon by January 2025. However, Israeli troops remain at five strategic border outposts.
