The families of the Israeli captives have been informed about the return of the remains, though the identities of the individuals have not been disclosed. The remains have been sent to the Israeli National Centre of Forensic Medicine for identification. Formal notifications will be provided to the families once the identification process is complete.
The handover brings the total number of returned remains to 12 out of 28 captives who died in Gaza. This action is part of a ceasefire agreement aimed at ending a two-year conflict. Under this agreement, Hamas is obliged to return all Israeli captives, both living and deceased, within 72 hours of signing. In return, Israel agreed to release 360 bodies of deceased Palestinians and approximately 2,000 prisoners.
