The ceasefire, announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, aims to offer a long-term resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. Israel has committed to halting its military actions in Gaza 24 hours following the cabinet's approval, which is scheduled to be discussed on Thursday.

As part of the ceasefire agreement, Hamas has released 33 Israeli and five Thai nationals previously held in Gaza. The agreement also includes provisions for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from certain areas.

However, there are concerns about the longevity of the ceasefire. Israel has previously violated ceasefire agreements, resuming military operations in Gaza in March.

Many residents, such as Ilham al-Zaanin (Umm Mahdi), who have been displaced by the conflict, express mixed feelings. The ceasefire may halt the violence, but uncertainty remains about the ability to return home, especially in areas like Beit Hanoon, which will remain under Israeli control during the initial phase of the ceasefire.

Ongoing displacement and destruction have severely impacted the local population, with many families losing their homes and livelihoods.

Residents are hopeful yet cautious, as previous agreements have not held. The success of the ceasefire depends on continued diplomatic efforts and adherence to the terms by all parties involved.
