Trump and Netanhayu agree to new US peace plan to end war in Gaza

Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has endorsed a 20-point peace proposal initiated by US President Donald Trump, aiming to resolve the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The acceptance of this plan by Hamas remains uncertain, as the group's representatives are currently reviewing the proposal.

Netanyahu, speaking in Washington on Mon, described the proposal as a significant step towards concluding the conflict and fostering peace in the Middle East.

The plan has received favorable responses from several Arab and European nations, as well as the Palestinian Authority.

During a joint press conference with Netanyahu, Trump stated they are "beyond very close" to a peace agreement for the region.

"We're not quite finished. We have to get Hamas, but I think they're going to be able to do that. So now it's time for Hamas to accept the terms of the plan that we've put forward today," Trump commented.

He further cautioned Hamas that refusal to accept the deal would result in Israel receiving full support from Washington to counter the threat posed by Hamas.

The initiative does not necessitate any displacement of the Gaza population.
